According to COM:FOP#Canada 2D works in Canada are copyrighted. 117Avenue (talk) 07:23, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea. The sculptor may have referred to photos, sketches and/or videos, and even personal recollection, in preparing this relief. A person's likeness is not copyrightable, and COM:PCP does not require us to assume that all sculptures and other 3D artworks are derivatives of 2D works unless someone can prove a negative. However, if this were a precise copy of a copyrighted photograph (along the lines of the Obama "HOPE" poster case), that would be a different matter. If someone could show this is an exact copy (even with minor variations) of a copyrighted photo, then the relief would be a derivative work and this image would not be permitted on the Commons. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:46, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
