Lacking copyright status. The uploader is involved in an edit conflict in the spanish wiki, claiming that HPL pictures are in PD, so the picture is probably got from an internet search. kismalac 09:33, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
- Delete This has no source and no evidence that it is in the public domain. Of course an image of someone is not automatically in the public domain only because the person died more than 70 years ago - for that determination we would have to know more about the copyright holder. - Delete: no source, no author; probable U.S. work and U.S. publication, after 1922, with no evidence of copyright expiration. This photograph could have been taken as late as 1937; and could have been first published at any time between its creation and when a modified version of it appears at lovecraft.jpeg (published March 2000 in Germany) via [1]. A more complete version of the photo appears at lovecraft-armchair.jpg via [2]. Roughly speaking, U.S. photographs taken between 1923 and 2000, and known to be published as of 2000, appear to still be under copyright (in 2012) unless:
- the photograph appeared in or as a pre-1978 work, with the permission of the copyright holder, and without a copyright notice; or
- the copyright was not renewed for works in which this photograph appears before 1963 with the permission of the copyright holder.
- The uploader gave nonspecific source and author information on File:LovecraftHoward.jpg, and when notified about it for Commons:Deletion requests/File:LovecraftHoward.jpg, responded by uploading this picture with no source or author at all. No evidence at all that this is from an out-of-copyright source. (For that matter: No evidence that the uploader understands what "author" or "source" even means.) --Closeapple (talk) 04:32, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
