Non-free - copyright Commonwealth of Australia --Nick-D (talk) 06:29, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- Comment -- just because these are Australian troops does not mean it is copyright Commonwealth of Australia. Back when our rules changed, and non-commercial liscenses were deprecated, most of our existing images of w:Canadian Coast Guard vessels had to go. But, since then, some of us found a couple of dozen images of CCG vessels taken by employees of US Federal agencies. This image could have been taken by a US officer tasked with liaison. If so I believe it would be entitled to a {{PD-US}} liscense. Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 17:50, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- Comment The image is sourced to the Australian Department of Defence's website (the full URL given is http://www.defence.gov.au/opEx/global/opslipper/images/gallery/2008/0424/20080327adf8252964_076.jpg), the image's record on the gallery of photos from this occasion isn't tagged as being the work of a US officer (see: http://www.defence.gov.au/opEx/global/opslipper/images/gallery/2008/0424/ - Defence often tags images its sourced from other than Australian photographers) and the photo's metadata states that it was taken by 'Captain Al Green' [not identified as being a member of the US Army] and the copyright holder is the Commonwealth of Australia. The photo appears to have been uploaded with an incorrect tag, and is not PD. Nick-D (talk) 23:03, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- As the uploader, re-examining my own source URL, it seems I may have been negligent and not noticed the .au perhaps. I have no objection to its deletion. :) Sherurcij (talk) 04:52, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
