Not a free image; States copyright extends 50 years Man vyi (talk) 05:39, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Agreed, unless someone can show that Guernsey copyright law is different from UK. . . . . Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talkcontribs) 13:06, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Guernsey copyright law states: "States copyright in a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work continues to subsist until the end of the period of 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was made."[1] Man vyi (talk) 13:13, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kaskabel (author of picture): I am not sure, if image on coins is in one of these categories (literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work). In Poland images on money are free. I think, in UK too. My picture it is not only one picture of coins in Wikimedia. Look at Wikipedia: "Coins of the Gibraltar pound". They are images of coins from Gibraltar. Sorry for my not good english. Kaskabel (author of picture): Now I now nothing! I read Polish National Bank rules and by the look of it you are right. But in Wikimedia I read: "Zgodnie z art. 4 pkt 1 i 2 ustawy z dnia 4 lutego 1994 r. o prawie autorskim i prawach pokrewnych (Dz.U. z 2006 r. Nr 90 poz. 631) nie stanowią przedmiotu prawa autorskiego akty normatywne, ich projekty, urzędowe dokumenty, materiały, znaki i symbole. Powyższa grafika należy do tej grupy. Jednak w niektórych przypadkach wykorzystanie tej grafiki może być w Polsce ograniczone na podstawie innych obowiązujących przepisów." English translation: "This image is in the public domain because according to Article 4, case 2 of the Polish Copyright Law Act of February 4, 1994 (Dz. U. z 2006 r. Nr 90 poz. 631 with later changes) "normative acts and drafts thereof as well as official documents, materials, signs and symbols are not subject to copyrights". Hence it is assumed that this image has been released into public domain. However in some instances the use of this image in Poland might be regulated by other laws.". It is from page: "Plik:200 zloty A.jpg". Also look Wikipedia: "Banknoty polskie po denominacji". What do you think about it? Maybe in UK is the same situation? Tomek (Kaskabel).

First, please remember we are talking about Guernsey here, not Poland. But, for Poland, in many countries coins and currency are subject to stricter rules than all other government works because of the possibility of counterfeiting. As a general rule of law, the more specific rule applies, that is, the one at Commons:Currency#Poland, rather than the general rule for government works.       Jim . . . . Deleted, currency in the United Kingdom is not in the public domain. Kameraad Pjotr 21:32, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Guernsey is not a part of the United Kingdom and has separate laws, but the design of the coin is still protected by copyright. Kameraad Pjotr 17:57, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
