Permission was obtained by the museum, not the artist, and since there is no freedom of panorama in the US, the status of this photo should be discussed. FunkMonk (talk) 09:40, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Comment Can someone check the OTRS for relevant details? Also, when was this display created? Is there reason to think the person who created the display has retained copyrights separate from the rights of the institution this was created for? -- Infrogmation (talk) 14:05, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We would have to ask the museum and the artist. FunkMonk (talk) 14:31, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DeleteThe OTRS e-mail reads, in its entirety:

"Yes, it is okay to release your sloth photo into the public domain. Thanks for helping get the word out about MNH! Let me know if you need something more official."

I doubt that the sender even considered the question of whether the sculptor would have to license his or her copyright. Unless there was a written work-for-hire agreement (after 1978), the sculptor's release is essential. .     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 11:24, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
