Although the source wiki in general has a license that is compatible with Commons (CC-BY-SA 3.0) - this particular image (and perhaps more) has a different license. See original page here. It is licensed as CC-ND-3.0 which is not compatible with Commons. –Krinkletalk 00:39, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Comment Just to clarify, the incompatibility is in the fact that CC-ND-3.0 does not allow derivatives (modifications) which is not "free" according to the definition used by Wikimedia. –Krinkletalk
- Hi Krinkle, I am the owner of the photo and the copyright and Gardenology.org. I therefore have the right to release my photo with a freer licensing if I choose. I have elected to do so. I hope this clears up the issue. --RaffiKojian (talk) 00:45, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- You are correct in that the owner of the photo has the right to release it as many times as he wishes (assuming the license does not contain anything regarding this). However, since the images are openly available on the internet with a non-free license you will have go through the permissions-proces to proof that you are in fact the author who uploaded the images on Gardenology. Please read COM:OTRS and follow the procedure by e-mailing OTRS from a Gardenology-address. To avoid effort and complication I recommend the following: Place {{Gardenology}} in the
Permission=
field from now on, so that, when the time comes, an OTRS-volunteer can place{{PermissionOTRS| ticket id}}
on {{Gardenology}} and it will appear on all your uploads. When you have sent the initial e-mail place {{OTRS pending}} on {{Gardenology}}. –Krinkletalk 00:53, 22 December 2010 (UTC)- Done, thanks. I hope I did it right... --RaffiKojian (talk) 01:10, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it was right. It's been processed by the OTRS team now. –Krinkletalk 23:41, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
