Personal political views on the status of Kososo do not over-ride accuracy on Wikipedia's articles. However, we have a user on Wikipedia English who seems to think otherwise. The file must therefore be deleted. File:LGBT flag map of Serbia.svg is te proper SVG file for this representation. ~ Fry1989 eh? 18:57, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Keep - no reason for deletion. If the name is a problem, rename it to LGBT Serbia and Kosovo or something. -mattbuck (Talk) 19:05, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- You're not paying attention. There is a user on Wikipedia who keeps reverting back to this file to further his support for Kosovo as part of Serbia. That simply is not the case anymore, and we cannot allow personal opinions to over-ride accuracy on Wikipedias articles. If Kosovo rejoins Serbia some day, then File:LGBT flag map of Serbia.svg can be updated to reflect that. But until then, personal opiunions aside, Kosovo is not a part of Serbia any longer, That is the reality, and it must be reflected on Wikipedia's articles. Fry1989 eh? 19:08, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

- There is no nuetral POV in this situation. Kosovo is politically distinct and separate from Serbia, and has been for years. That is the reality, not a POV. Using this map to claim that Kosovo is still somehow part of Serbia is however a non-neutral POV, and that is what it is being used for. It's not being used on any personal pages for those who support Kosovo as Serbian Territory, it is only being used in Wikipedia articles regarding gay rights and treatment in Serbia. Those articles must reflect the political reality, and this map simply is not that reality. Fry1989 eh? 19:59, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Then rename to LGBT Servia AND Kosovo. What happens on other projects is NOT our concern, deleting this would be an example of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Also stop abusing apostrophes, you use "it's" for the contraction of "it is", not for "it" possessing something. -mattbuck (Talk) 20:10, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- First off, don't be a grammar nazi. Second, I will be making a LGBT map of Kosovo shortly. There is absolutely no reason for this map other then to continue to claim that Kosovo is still physically and politically part of Serbia. The facts are that as of now, Serbia does not govern Kosovo, Serbia does not control Kosovo's borders, the Serbian Military does not protect Kosovo anymore. Kosovo it distinct. Fry1989 eh? 20:16, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- So your response to my comment is to label my attempt to improve your English as comparable to genocide. How lovely. Maybe someone might want an LGBT map for the time when Kosovo was part of Serbia? Just rename it to say Serbia AND Kosovo, problem solved. -mattbuck (Talk) 20:38, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- I guess you're unaware of the term. Too bad for you, I will not apologize for it's use. Fry1989 eh? 20:51, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Again with the apostrophe... Now answer my actual point - perhaps someone wants a historical LGBT map of Serbia? -mattbuck (Talk) 22:58, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

- Keep Fry1989, you obviously do not understand the scope of this project. It is not the role of Commons to adjudicate on subject-matter disputes nor to force local projects to use one version of a file in preference to another. Provided that a file falls within Commons scope, and can be legally hosted, we make it available. Whether and under what conditions it is actually used is a matter for the local communities of the individual projects to decide. Images having particular national, political or religious significance including flags, emblems and maps can arouse strong passions, but Commons is not the place to decide which of various competing versions is the correct or official version. If you feel strongly that a map, emblem, flag or other file hosted here is “wrong” in some way, please try to persuade your local wiki community to make use of the version you prefer instead. mickit 20:49, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- The file must go. That is my view and I stand by it. There is absolutely no scope for this file. It's not being used for anything but by one Serbian user who demands we pretend Kosovo is still part of Serbia when that simply is not the reality anymore. Fry1989 eh? 20:51, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Keep "The file must go." Says who? You? C'mon.... ;) FYI, there's a something called history (which IS whithin the scope of subjects Wikipedia treats as encyclopedia, isn't it?), and this map is useful for history articles and also many more. Or, should we delete all history maps, because they don't correspond to the actual political reality? It is obvious that you are pushing your personal agenda here and also don't have a clue what this project is about. --Maduixa (talk) 22:15, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
- Keep Is it Kosovo UN member? Wile E. Coyote (talk) 07:07, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Keep Hey dude, please don't distrupt this project anymore to illustrate a your point of thinking. In this case, there is absolutely NO reason to delete any picture such as this, beacause it's everything fine with the author's rights.--Еπαμинонδα★Рαζгоβоρ 08:41, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- Maduixa, I said that is "my view", so yes, I do say it should go. In my opinion it should go. What isn't clear about that? Now you can disagree with me on whether or not it should go (and clearly you do), but don't question my right to my view that it should go. And no, this map is not useful for history articles, or else it would already be in use for those. It's only use was on two 5 articles regarding "LGBT Rights in Serbia" and the Belgrade anti-gay pride riot. Nothing to do with Kosovo. And since those articles pertain to Serbia, this map is not accurate as Kosovo is not part of Serbia anymore, and has not been under Serbian control since atleast 1999. That is the reality, no matter what your personal views on the Kosovo issue are. As this map is inaccurate, it shouldn't be used on those articles. However, as we have a user who believes Kosovo belongs to Serbia, and will not allow an accurate map with the current Kosovar status reflected on it to be used, it must be deleted, so that his behaviour is not enabled. And Wile E. Coyote, asking whether or not Kosovo is part of the UN is not even a question of note. There are several countries which are not, and currently don't plan on being part of the UN. Just because Kosovo isn't part of the UN doesn't change anything regarding the fact that it is under it's own political and military control, and not Serbia's control. Kept: per mattbuck, rename would be good. By the way, the svg borders are not very accurate, I suggest more detailed tracing next time. 99of9 (talk) 12:07, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
