This file is asserted as being a flag representing Japanese organization "Aum Shinrikyo". However, recognized expert on Aum Shinrikyo, Sarah Hightower, has on multiple occasions, brought up that this 'flag' was never used by the organization, and no examples of it can be found in photographs of Aum facilities, gatherings, meetings, footage of the group and its actvities, or items sold/used by the group.

Anyone claiming this flag was used by the group provides no actual proof (photos, video, etc) of its use.

This file's continued existence on the Commons is against the project scope, as it is not realistically useful for an educational purpose. It's straight up misinformation and we are harming education on the topic by allowing it to remain. The Navigators (talk) 21:03, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Felipe Fidelis Tobias: Thanks. The misunderstanding over this 'flag' has been going on for years, it's not your fault, don't feel bad about it. We had it on the English article for years before we found out. Sorry if I came across a little aggressive in the proposal. I knew I was making an odd deletion request, so I wanted to make sure I had laid out my reason pretty solidly.
