possible derivative of non-free content; unclear if the flag itself is actually freely licensed. May be closed as keep if someone can provide a citation proving that the flag is PD. FASTILY 07:07, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- Keep. The SVG file was created entirely by me. For better or for worse, I tagged my work with a PD license. Being that the SVG file is supposed to depict the flag of the City of Kingston, I do not deny that it bares a likeness to the flag flown on top of Kingston City Hall. I am not going to argue legalities because I do not pretend to be qualified to do that. However, I do believe it it is to the benefit of every municipality in the world to have an accurate likeness of its own flag displayed on its own Wikipedia page. Thus I am trying to understand what really motivated User:Fastily to submit deletion requests for 13 Canadian municipal flags over a period of five minutes on July 21. The action seems spiteful even if there are good intentions that are lost on me. MapGrid (talk) 23:07, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- Per COM:DW, derivative works retain their original copyright where applicable. According to w:List of Canadian flags, this flag was first used in 1999, which would appear to make it ineligible for {{PD-Canada}}. This implies it would be protected by copyright until 2049 (1999+50=2049). -FASTILY 04:53, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
