- It means that it was at one time registered. If between 1923 and 1963, that registration will last 28 years, and with renewel another 28 years. However, copyrights in works registered or pub- lished between January 1, 1964, and December 31, 1977, have an automatic renewal for a full 95-year term of protection. Since we don't know when the image was published, we cannot know wether or not it's copyrighted. TheDJ (talk) 10:20, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- The LoC page says it was registered with 1931 as the starting year. So, the renewal would have had to be in 1958 or 1959. Unfortunately I don't think the visual art renewal records are online for easy searching. Though the "J" prefix may mean something else... Carl Lindberg (talk) 16:56, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
