Unused equivalent of File:Ethane-flat.png in same format, also have others in Category:Ethane in various formats DMacks (talk) 17:43, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm of course fine upgrading that other file to be clear-bg, since I agree that is a more useful way (are there drawbacks to it?). DMacks (talk) 00:57, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure, but there might be programs, that still cannot handle transparency in PNGs properly. Also, it might be more convenient for some markup purposes to have a white background. Apart from that I agree that a transparent background is the most reasonable choice. But the background thing was not the major reason for my vote. I just don't see why we shouldn't have multiple high quality images of the same compound, even if they don't differ much. Admittedly, they have a high degree of similarity, but they are not identical. And there might be some reason, why they were drawn exactly the way they are (at least that's the case for my structural formulae). --NEURO  22:01, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
