Just an unused and superseded duplicate of File:Coat of arms of the Vatican City.svg, uploaded by the same user. --Gambo7 (talk) 13:23, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, this file is a leftover hold from a dispute. The Vatican sources (which are considered primary) show that both the Vatican and Holy See both use the arms with the gold key on the right, whereas common belief and some secondary sources claim that the two entities emblems are different, with the Vatican using the gold key on the right and the Holy See using it with the gold key on the left. Instead of following the primary source, and because Esoglou and Bellae artes kept edit warring and fighting, both versions were uploaded. This file originally had the gold key on the left but now it has been switched. That dispute was never resolved, but I'm not too interested in bringing it back up because it was very heated and ugly. However, until it is resolved, none of these should be deleted. Fry1989 eh? 18:44, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am aware that the Holy See did not "codified" its emblem until the Vatican State was founded, so it is possible to find both emblems with the golden key in bend or bend sinister. But, since at the moment the two files are identical, there is no need to keep them both; anyway, it is not uncommon to use a file for different scopes if it fits (see File:Comtat Venaissin flag.svg as an example, used as flag of both Comtat Venaissin and Papal States; or many other images): so, again, there is no need to keep a duplicate image if another existing one could (perhaps) be used in the future. --Gambo7 (talk) 20:14, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Normally I would agree, I don't like duplicates either. However considering that dispute, it would probably be better to revert the file so it is no longer a duplicate. Fry1989 eh? 20:57, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Only if it does not start an edit war or a dispute again... And considering that it's not over yet, maybe it's better if you solve it and then decide whether there is need to have an "alternate" version or not; and maybe it's better if this version has an explicit explanation in order to avoid future discussions.
In the end, it can be better to delete this file, and upload a brand new one... it costs no (or very few) time or energies. --Gambo7 (talk) 21:12, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have no interest in reanimating that dispute, but it needs either to be resolved or the file should be reverted back to how it was at the closure. Fry1989 eh? 22:12, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In any case I think this file should be deleted and can be replaced by the use (or future readaptation, if needed) of either File:Coat of arms Holy See.svg or File:Coat of arms of the Vatican City.svg --Gambo7 (talk) 23:00, 17 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
