user Steve Engelhardt claims to be the author of this image, but it shows "M. Kahnke" as a signature. Just plain Bill (talk) 13:34, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
- I helped, and I am sending this to Michael Kankhe so he can say what he thinks here. You are being ridiculous bill --Steveengelhardt (talk) 16:47, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
Delete. Low quality, hard to decipher. Jc3s5h (talk) 13:12, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
Delete. Aside from the possible copyright violation, the image is full of w:chartjunk, the graphic equivalent of word salad. "Hard to decipher" is a serious flaw in an information graphic. This one carries an aroma of cargo cult science, with stylish features but elementary, trivial content. One particularly meaningless bit of content is the distance labeled "X", which indicates a slant range between two arbitrarily determined points; it is not explained how this relates to any real-world application. It may be meant to represent height above sea level, or altitude, for small values of theta, but the graphic goes far beyond those small values. I see this image being used on pages promoting fringe flat-earth views, hosted at Eric Dubay's site, at the Atlantean conspiracy site, and at Steve Engelhardt's own flat earth wiki. Notice that the NASA base image is labeled "imaginary ball Earth."
This image no longer appears in Wikipedia article space, and does not appear to serve any educational purpose. There are clearer diagrams available, used for example at w:Zenith and w:Horizon. See related Commons:Deletion requests/File:Earth's Curvature.jpg regarding a derivative image. Just plain Bill (talk) 19:57, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
Do Not Delete. I've spoken with Michael Kankhe, he's told me that he is preparing a response to these accusations. --Steveengelhardt (talk) 15:27, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
