A very complicated thing. During the existence of this railway, there was no independent Belarusian state. Initially, it belonged to the German occupiers. This is clearly indicated by the German steam locomotive. After the war, the railway changed owners several times. Ultimately, it belonged to the reborn Polish state. No evidence that the author died 70 years ago. Photo scanned from website. Please refer to Commons:Publication. There is no evidence that it was published 70 years ago. There are many indications that this is a photograph taken by a private person. Please refer to Commons:Project scope/Evidence. The uploader failed to prove that the photo was published over 70 years ago. Respecting copyright is not about making claims without evidence. The picture probably comes from the family archives. No one can ever immediately assume that a photo was published immediately after it was taken. It shouldn't be discretionary. This can never be an arbitrary decision by one editor. 5.173.100.247 10:38, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your vigilance. However, the same photo is shown here with a watermark "Mūsų Ignalina". Mūsų Ignalina is known as the publisher of a newspaper (Laikraščio MŪSŲ IGNALINA redakcija). I honestly assume that the photo is of their own archive, in which they store the originals, which they have historically published in their newspaper. Please keep. --NearEMPTiness (talk) 11:03, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
