This is more of an OTRS / License issue - Based on the first version of the upload the "permission" was Re: Your Craig Mello photo - could use it in Wikipedia. And based on the posted text of the email it is licensed under the GNU, not any CCL. My issues are twofold - I don't see where nay OTRS exists for this, I don't see any permission allowing it to be used under a different license, and I don't see any clear indication the permission was given for use beyond Wikipedia. (Despite the license having been acceptable the intent of what the author felt they were agreeing too is not clear) The Flikr source is listed as "all rights reserved", which would make sense in terms of the uploader asking for permission to use "it in Wikipedia." Also this was done under version 1.2, that is not compatible with CCL and as of July 2009 Wikipedia stopped accepting text that was only available via this license. Seems logical images would also be handled the same. In short there are a few issues and unless an OTRS can be obtained to clarify the terms and update the license this should not be offered/distributed by Wikimedia Commons.Soundvisions1 (talk) 21:21, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
