The artist of this painting died in 2004 and there's zero evidence it is free of copyright in the meantime. So unless someone can provide evidence to the contrary the the image should be deleted until at least 2,074. Adamant1 (talk) 11:04, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Comment Hmmm. The uploader's user page says, in part, "Since November 2020, I contribute with the team of curators and art historians of the Museum of Fine Arts of La Chaux-de-Fonds to enrich Wikipedia in French (and by some translations in German and English) around the themes of artists from La Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, Switzerland or abroad that are part in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts of La Chaux-de-Fonds or that have been the subject of an exhibition within its walls.".
If the uploader really is a curator, is it possible they may be authorized to upload this image? They may not be a curator, after all. They may be an actual curator, but one who doesn't fully understand intellectual property law. Or they may be a museum official who is authorized to upload this image.
I think the best approach would have been to start by asking them to confirm their authorization, through VRT, instead of taking the more aggressive approach of a nomination for deletion. Geo Swan (talk) 02:42, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The uploader can provide VRT permission if they want to. I don't really care if you think the best approach would have been to ask them for it before nominating the images for deletion though. No one is under any obligation to request an uploader provide VRT permission before nominating their images for deletion. So I'd appreciate it if you stopped making the spurious comments in my DRs about it. Your just wasting everyone's time including your own with the nitpicking over procedural non-issues. --Adamant1 (talk) 06:23, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: per nomination. The file can be restored in 2082 (URAA, still applicable for a 1986 work). --Rosenzweig τ 14:28, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
