This is not an appropriate logo. The closest to an official logo is located at File:C Sharp wordmark.svg; it appears on the [official documentation] and [various product websites]. This logo is not used by Microsoft anywhere; however, there have been certain problems trying to edit it out of existing pages. This is basically fanart, and its presence is confusing and misleading. - Why delete it outright? Can't it just be removed from the pages where it's used? OmenBreeze (talk) 00:26, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- It’s clearly in scope as it is used on several other projects. If confirmed that it is unofficial, the file description should state this. Brianjd (talk) 10:21, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- If it’s unofficial, probably it should be renamed. The current name implies it’s official; if it didn’t, it would be easier to get it removed from inappropriate places. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 19:56, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- I didn't design or name this. I only created an SVG version of a PNG file somebody else uploaded. Whether you decide to remove this or rename it, be sure to give the PNG the same treatment. OmenBreeze (talk) 19:14, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- Good point. I added the PNG version to this deletion request. Please note that the PNG version has already survived a deletion request at Commons:Deletion requests/File:C Sharp logo.png, so there seem not to be any trademark issues, thus my below point is void. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 19:29, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

- By the way, it’s clearly a derivative of the official C++ logo. I’m not sure if this C# version complies with trademark laws, so it may need to be deleted because of trademark violation. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:02, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Delete I agree. It was just changed back again. I would argue this file is not in scope because it does not meet the requirements of being "realistically useful for an educational purpose." —Pathogen-David (talk) 11:53, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
- I understand that it's in scope due to appearing on other projects. I've removed it from as many existing pages as I can, although the problem I noted on the English Wikipedia page still persists.
It's not even a good representation of the logo. The 'C# color' has always been green, not purple. You can see this in things like Visual Studio project templates. I'm not sure that it serves a good purpose. Reflectronic (talk) 08:18, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

KeepBecause it appears in the official documentation, demonstrating the confusion between the different logos is itself an educational use (as stated above, the names and descriptions should be changed so that we don’t create more confusion).
- Does our use of the logo lead people to think that we represent the trademark owner? No, of course not. No trademark problem here.

- @Reflectronic: I got confused. In your nomination, I thought you meant that this file appears in the official documentation. Did you mean that File:C Sharp wordmark.svg appears in the official documentation? Brianjd (talk) 10:47, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Reflectronic (talk) 15:12, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- So is demonstrating the confusion between the logos a legitimate educational use? To help answer this question, as well as resolve this DR more generally, I tried to investigate why the logo keeps getting added back in to Wikipedia articles. I can’t comment on viwiki, since I don’t know the language, but on enwiki, it looks like similar IP addresses keep adding it back in and don’t care whether it’s legitimate, based on edit summaries. And there’s no relevant discussion on the talk page. This suggests that:
- Demonstrating this confusion is not educational.
- It is not legitimately in use on enwiki and therefore COM:INUSE does not apply (at least for enwiki).
- Weak delete Brianjd (talk) 10:44, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
- Neutral I don't have any leaning as to whether it should be deleted from here or not, but I did start the discussion as to what logo should be used over at enwiki, as above commenters have mentioned that its use there is both important to this deletion request and probably not warranted. - Keep. This icon/logo is well-associated with C# as a programming language, and there is not much else out there that can take its place. Brianreading (talk) 06:58, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- There is File:C Sharp wordmark.svg, which appears to be an actually official logo. ―JochemvanHees (talk) 22:11, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- Delete This logo is a derivative of the C++ logo and violates the [terms of use] of the C++ logo. Please don't use it. blelbach 2020-10-21S
- I agree. That is very similar to HolyC fanart logo that is found on TempleOS you must check it before it was removed by someone. Flankbed (talk) 08:54, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
