Impossible to determine copyright status as it lacks publication information Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 16:30, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Sturmvogel 66: I think the ship was photographed in the late 1940s (in 1944 or in the first following years). I have found the original source, it is a 1996 supplement to the magazine Modelist-Konstruktor, "Gremyashchy" and Others. Project 7 Destroyers by S. A. Balakin (page 23). The original description in Russian says: "«Бодрый» в освобожденном Севастополе. Фото из коллекции С. Бережного" (translation to English: Bodry in liberated Sevastopol. Photo from S. Berezhnoy's collection).
- I suppose the author means S. S. Berezhnoy, whose works were published in the same magazine. According to this source, Berezhnoy (1940–2000) was a historian and retired captain of the 2nd class.--Russian Rocky (talk) 18:33, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
- Then image is still in Ukrainian copyright as it was not published until 1996 and needs to be deleted.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 23:45, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Sturmvogel 66: Why did you decide "it was not published until 1996"? There is no solid evidence that it's the very first publication. Berezhnoy was 14+ years old when the ship was photographed. Most likely, he got this photograph (or reprint, taking into account its quality) when he served in the navy, from navy periodicals.--Russian Rocky (talk) 23:12, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
- You cannot assume these things for photographs of this vintage. Definite proof that it was published before 1951 is need to assert that it is out of copyright. Sadly, this tends to rule out most Soviet WW2-era photographs.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 23:45, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
