"Auteur responsable, Salomon Deloye, Place Cardinal Mercier" Can't find death date and author could have lived beyond 1949. Abzeronow (talk) 19:09, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I have reservations about quite a few of the images uploaded by LordLiberty. Most are posters said to be "own work" and are unsourced. It can still be assumed that most people alive in the 1940s and 1950s have not been dead for the relevant number of years under Belgian Law, and without precise details it's impossible to rebut this. Yeah, I have similar reservations. It doesn't help that some files have the bottom clipped out, and that is where I could find credits to help determine actual copyright status. (I'll assume this was inadvertent on the uploader's part) Abzeronow (talk) 19:40, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed that these works where in the public domain.. even if they are not to the letter by law, it must be fair use because this is pure educational, no? i am not a copyright specialist sorry. LordLiberty (talk) 12:05, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway this poster is is about a very important chapter of the history of Belgium as it shows the belgian king shaking hands with hitler, this event almost lead to the end of the kingdom of belgium, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Question, so if there is a way around this with fair use or something els, please let it know. LordLiberty (talk) 13:21, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortuntely, Commons doesn't allow fair use as a rationale to keep files. There are Wikipedias that allow limited fair use if you want to try that route. Generally most European works are only out of copyright 70 years after the death of the author. If you can present evidence that Salomon Deloye died before 1950, that would be helpful towards keeping this file. Abzeronow (talk) 19:00, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

nope poster was published in 1950 and apertly still under copyright by this organization, sadly: http://opac.amsab.be/Record/af000836 LordLiberty (talk) 19:49, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
