Tiny photo with few conceivable uses, thus not within scope. Additionally, the source given is questionable; this news story with a larger version of the photograph lists the source as Amtrak, which is not an agency of the US Government (per the act that created it) and does not qualify as PD-USGov. - I corresponded with the US Mission to Canada, over the copyright status of their images. Initially they were marking all their images as "all rights reserved". That was bogus, of course. After some hints on my part, they agreed to used the free-est license flickr allows, for their own images, and to explicitly credit courtesy images. I took that assurance at face value when I uploaded this image. If they lapsed, it was a rare lapse. They do, occasonally, publish courtesy images from other sources -- but they identify them.
With regard to it being too tiny to be useful, and thus not within scope -- on that issue I totally disagree. Our articles almost always use thumbnails, so readers wouldn't even notice the small size of images like this. Geo Swan (talk) 03:51, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- The image is only 160 pixels wide by 80 pixels high. That is substantially smaller than a standard thumbnail (220 to 250px for most users) or an infobox image (250 to 300px); in both of those applications the smaller size would be very noticable. I searched for a larger version under a compatible license, but could not find one. The single largest version that exists on the web is a 960-pixel version used on this Houston Chronicle story; it also gives Amtrak as the source. Unfortunately, despite your noteworthy effort to stay on the right side of the law, I think the US Consulate goofed on this one - it's a copyrighted Amtrak stock photo. - Delete Uploader here -- Pi is correct, US Consulate goofed, copyright AmTrak. Geo Swan (talk) 16:26, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- Did you upload any others from the consulate? If so, we might wish to check their licenses as well? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 16:33, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
- I uploaded most of the images in Category:Photos from the U.S. Mission Canada. The most similar image was File:Vancouver-Whistler train.jpg, but it's part of [1]. Geo Swan (talk) 00:16, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
