Very probably not taken by the chinese government. This image was taken at the Obersalzberg, it is marked with Ullstein bild, Ullstein is a german publisher that have (or claims to have or have) copyright here. Martin H. (talk) 04:31, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also File:Kuomintang officials with Adolf Hitler.jpg. The source for the images is ullsteinbild.de probably. --Martin H. (talk) 04:38, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It appears to have been taken in 1937 so does that mean public domain in USA? or does the author have to be DEAD in 1937.Todosmuchogranos (talk) 04:37, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Without going into the details of copyright: the author must have died 70 years ago. In case of anonymous work the copyright lasts 70 years after first publication or 70 years after creation if the image was not publicated within this time. But this is not an anonymous work, the circle of persons attended this event is not very large, so there must be any documentation in any library or archive who the photographer is. --Martin H. P.S.: I still assume, that this is a german photography, i dont know the chinese copyright. --Martin H. (talk) 04:50, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Keep If Ullstein wants to claim copyright, they need to give the name of the photographer. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 00:11, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, not they, WE need the name of the author. Maybe they are just promoting the image as part of a cooperation they have with the SV Bildarchiv of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, we dont know. We dont know the author, we dont know the publication, we dont know the copyright holder, we only know who is distributing the image with his watermark. So proof or delete. --Martin H. Saying that there must be documentation of an author in an archive is like saying there must be a teapot floating in orbit around Mars that an alien put there because you haven't seen it.
DeleteThis image has been used by this user in the En Wikipedia as as original research in Chinese related articles. Plus the watermark and not having information about the author seems like a red flag to me. --Jmundo (talk) 17:29, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted, image is still fundamentally unsourced. --Martin H. (talk) 00:43, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
