This statue was made by Tōru Komuro. Komuro died on June 18, 1953. Therefore, under the United States copyright laws, the statue is presumed to be under copyright protection.
Files uploaded to Wikimedia Commons should be free both in the country of origin and in the United States, and possibly in other countries involved, either through being properly licensed by the copyright owner or being in the public domain. (c.f. Commons:Copyright rules.) The United States copyright law does not allow free reproductions of non-architectural artistic works located in public spaces (this includes monuments and statues), so photographs of non-architectural modern artistic works are not considered as "free works" on Wikimedia Commons.  Delete it appears it is still under copyright in Japan too, as the author is not yet dead for more than 70 years. No commercial COM:FOP Japan for non-architecture. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 10:09, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Added  Comment to make things clear, the U.S. laws only matter if the country does not have commercial FOP for public art. If it had, the file page could have been tagged with {{Not-free-US-FoP}} and U.S. law can be ignored. But since Japan has no commercial FOP for non-architecture, then U.S. laws cannot be ignored. :Slash my input, it seems it is in public domain in Japan as it entered PD before their new copyright law with new p.m.a. rules (50 to 70 years after author's death). But since Japan has no FOP for public art, U.S. law has to be considered. So  Delete. U.S. law can only be ignored if Japan has complete FOP for public art. My input applies to other similar deletion requests to this statue. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 10:30, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Neutral per some rebuttal at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Statue-of-Date-Masamune-in-Aobayama-Park-Sendai-2016.jpg 20230413. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 10:36, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Keep per Commons:URAA-restored copyrights. This request does not correspond to the reason for deletion due to past agreements.--Y.haruo (talk) 15:45, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
