Commons:Requests and votes/ChrisO
Self-nomination. I've been active on the Commons since 2005; I've been a Wikipedia editor since 2003, and an administrator on the English Wikipedia since 2004 (as en:User:ChrisO), with over 16,000 edits to date, 10,000 of those in the main article space. I'm active in maintaining the English Wikipedia's image repositories, identifying copyvios and undertaking regular deletion and speedy deletion patrols of images and articles. I have a good understanding of copyright issues - it's part of my real-life job description, as I've been working in the field of information management for the past 10 years. I'd like to help out on the Commons. I've noticed a number of copyright issues with images that have been uploaded here, presumably from local Wikipedias, but without admin permissions and time pressures I haven't been able to do much about it. Commons admin status would enable me to undertake maintenance work as well as the usual image uploading and tagging. -- ChrisO 22:40, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- With regard to the number of edits, I'm in the middle of transwikiing my contributions to the English Wikipedia (or at least those that haven't already been transwikied by others!). I'm just short of 200 edits at the moment and expect to be well past that figure later today. -- ChrisO 08:03, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm now well past 200 edits. Still lots of transwikiing to go! -- ChrisO 19:35, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

SupportWill be helpful here. ++Lar: t/c 04:24, 28 March 2007 (UTC)- ... once he has the necessary edits to qualify. :) Oops, should have checked that. ++Lar: t/c 15:04, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- He does now. Normally I'd be a bit leery of someone who wracked up a lot of edits in a hurry like that, but I have a good feeling about this candiate ahd his ability to work within our norms and customs and am comfortable supporting, so I am back to Support (from www.brickfest.com where I am on break!) ++Lar: t/c 15:06, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

- Didn't notice the candidate had less than 200 edits. Sorry, but you are not eligible for adminship (see COM:A). Please try again later :) -- Bryan (talk to me) 14:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Support reluctantly. I'm sure the user knows his way around in the copyvios, however the little participation in the Commons namespace is somewhat worrying. I hope you take the time to familiarize yourself with the Commons community, but I am sure we will benefit from you being admin. -- Bryan (talk to me) 19:46, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Comment Candidate has less then 200 edits on Commons. --EugeneZelenko 14:52, 28 March 2007 (UTC)- Oppose Nothing personal about this candidate, but I vote no pending addressing the issues with the selection process raised here. --South Philly 16:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

- Support -- not the most experienced user of Commons, but not everyone has to be a delete/blocking admin who is a copyright expert and speaks five languages fluently/ Fred Chess 14:36, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

- Please enable your email link here on commons, it is not always good to make users go to en:wp to mail you. Thanks! ++Lar: t/c 00:22, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Sorry, I'd forgotten that - it was actually set up to go to an old address I'm no longer using. -- ChrisO 00:51, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
