Ladies and gentlemen,
I’ve decided to give this request a go, although I’m well aware that it’s unlikely to succeed given the fact that I’ve only done a few hundred edits on Commons. I’m Aitias, an administrator on the English Wikipedia. As already mentioned, I’m not that active here on Commons and the main reason for this request can be found here. To resolve that issue, I think, everyone who helps out could be useful. Now it’s your turn to shoot this request down in flames. — Aitias // discussion 02:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

- Oppose - User is not active enough - Abigor talk 07:33, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose No need to ask for the administrator tools just for a protection. Any help is appreciated, but we can't give the administrator's rights to anyone, just because they asked for it for only one reason. ;) →Diti the penguin — 11:08, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- weak Oppose.I do not see the required experience. By the way, I am always (when I am online) on #wikipedia-en, my nick is "Viele-baeren" feel always free to ask for protection. abf « Cabale?! Quelle Caballe?» 12:01, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Weak Support. Experience at the English Wikipedia. Tools can be removed, if not used here. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 15:00, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Comment his activity on en.wiki has nothing to do with his RFA here. Abigor talk 14:04, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose - no need for the tools demonstrated. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 00:04, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose If you became more active on this side, certainly. rootology (T) 14:42, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Support I'd trust an enwiki admin anyday. Civil, trustworthy and enwiki contribs are a fair assessment of his abilities. Prashanthns (talk) 16:33, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose request not necessary, there's lots of Commons admins around if needed. Majorly talk 02:20, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

- All you have to do is ask for images to be protected. Furthermore, local versions can be uploaded & protected. I really don't understand why you think it's even worth requesting adminship. — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 03:49, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I simply think I could help out, that’s all. :) — Aitias // discussion 03:58, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- While I was an enwiki admin, I updated DYK quite a few times. With the image, I uploaded the local version, which was then automatically protected per main page transclusion. The same should be done for TfA, I think, as that would solve the issue all round, and save the need for cross-wiki protection. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 11:38, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed. #wikimedia-commons also has plenty of people watching, as does COM:AN, if you want to request protection. Giggy (talk) 02:09, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
