Zapisi
[edit]Hello Zoran, i found your great project about the sacred trees in Serbia. Thanks for your photos!
i contact you because i am one of the users who regularly sort images and categories about various nature features, and about all types of officially protected areas (including smaller protected objects like individual trees, rocks etc; also see Category:Protected areas of Serbia for already protected objects in your country). Maybe i can help you a little bit with image sorting practices on Commons.
the descriptions of your images include relevant information and location, and are already given in two or three languages. this is very good! but i see some points for improvement:
- Most of your images have perfect filenames including Zapis-number-location-date-…. But some images like File:Z 0002 7924.JPG have rather meaningless filenames (even if i can guess that "Z_0002" should mean "Zapis no. 2" and 7924 is the photo ID given by your camera). Names like this are usually unwanted on Commons, so these files might be renamed (moved) by other users. Please see Commons:File renaming. You can also handle this issue yourself, see how to rename a file?
- At the moment we have 2 big categories: Sacred Trees Serbia for the Wikimedia Project and Zapisi in Serbia as a normal content category. More than 500 images are in both categories (which is ok), but some images are only in one of them, i don't know why. Do you know?
- Because of its name, Category:Sacred Trees Serbia might be confused by other users (without connection to WMRS) with normal content categories like Category:Sacred trees in Egypt, so that they wrongly add other/older photos of trees to this category. To make it more clear that it is specific for this Wikimedia project, i suggest renaming to Category:WMRS Sacred Trees Serbia or so. Ok?
- Please try to add also location categories whereever possible, see subcategories of Category:Municipalities and cities in Serbia by district. This is wanted to allow users coming from a Wikipedia article eg. about a town to the town's Commons category, to also find these images easily.
- Please try to add also biological/taxonomic categories for the trees, see as example Category:Quercus robur in Belarus. If such "by location/country" categories are to complicated or if you are unsure with identification, you can add the species or genus category directly, like Category:Quercus robur (for pedunculate oaks) or Category:Tilia (for lime/linde trees).
- When you have several images of one tree, it is best to create a special subcategory for it, see as example Category:Femeiche, an old oak in Germany. I did it for Category:Vezičevo zapis so that you see what i mean (feel free to change it if something is wrong).

File tagging File:Z-0003-754.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Z-0003-754.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |
