explain, if possible

[edit]

Hello there, can you please explain this edit? thank you,--Carolus (talk) 20:09, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Carolus: Hi, it’s a pretty dormant and pointless page with images which can also be viewed in the organised categories. --TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 20:23, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You are not new here, aren't you?--Carolus (talk) 12:54, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Grã-Cruzes da Ordem de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Vila Viçosa

[edit]

Can you explain how the hell the term "Grã-Cruzes da Ordem de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Vila Viçosa" translate to english as "Knights Grand Cross of the Order of the Immaculate Conception of Vila Viçosa". There is the portuguese word for knight? And before you answer, be advised that your speaking to a portuguese native. Tm (talk) 20:28, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tm: I suggest you to research the prefixes of the rank accorded to those recipients of orders of Knighthoods! Being Portuguese is no excuse to vandalise factual edits! TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 20:33, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I suggest that you research before you talk about something tou dont known. Grã-Cruz is a Grand Cross, not an Knight Grand Cross. There is not such thing in portuguese a "Cavaleiro\Grã-Cruz" in the portuguese knighthood orders. So make your own research. End of discussion. Tm (talk) 20:36, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jcb: Tm Creating mass reversions to factual and accurate names of categories and refuses to acknowledge this in addition to constant edit warring.TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 20:40, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do please continue. You still havent explained how "Grã-Cruzes da Ordem de Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Vila Viçosa" translate to english as "Knights Grand Cross of the Order of the Immaculate Conception of Vila Viçosa", but it seems that Sua Eminência parda prefere reverter a explicar. Question

[edit]

Hello. I am an administrator and I’m looking into the disagreement between yourself and User:Tm. The numerous moves and reversions are very disruptive for Commons. If you were a new user I don’t think any action would be needed other than asking you to slow down and not carry out more category moves or reversions without discussion. However, you do not appear to be a new user, having made over a thousand edits in two weeks. Have you had another user account? If not, how are you so knowledgable about these processes? I would appreciate it if you would hold off any other editing until we have resolved these issues. -Green Giant (talk) 11:39, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It has been more than 24 hours and you’ve not replied. It may be that you are unable to do so but when you do read this message, please reply but do not ignore it. -Green Giant (talk) 18:17, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Green Giant: Hi, thank you for taking the time to look into this issue; first of all, I haven’t had the time to respond due to personal issues. Now in response to your initial message, yes I am a new user who has found the category name correlations throughout commons pretty non factual and neither updated either in comparisons to those heavily edited and focused categories. The whole reason for my recreation of categories was to improve the naming of the categories to be as accurate as possible and clearly one which TM had focused on which caused him to not only revert that but create this whole mess in the first place which included broken links, inaccurate and non factual names/titles as well as blatant vandalism which I had tried to revert as much as possible with failure; In response to my being ‘knowledgeable’, surely every user signing up to commons should, in detail read through the commons guidelines. There are also some categories that I would like to restore to the actual, accurate and factual names which TM had not only constantly vandalised but broken WikiId links to, if they have an issue with this then they should create a cfd which was what should have happened in the first place. Once again, I thank you for taking the time to discuss this rather than taking a ridiculous and senseless approach like the other user; I look forward to hearing a response. TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 15:12 28 March 2020 (UTC)

I appreciate your reply. It is not normally the case that a new user knows about policies before they start editing - hence the suspicions by myself and others. Most of us learned by making mistakes. Let’s leave that to one side. The problem is that the renames and reversions caused disruption on Commons. I’m not going to decide which of you two is right and which is wrong but reverting so many times is not helpful and is very likely to result in blocks from editing. Instead I suggest that you use the Commons:Categories for discussion method to propose category name changes. If there is consensus to rename, there will be no difficulty getting them done. The important thing is to provide good reasons for the proposed rename and to maintain a civil tone of discussion. Commons works best when we behave in a collegiate manner. Cheers. -Green Giant (talk) 22:09, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Green Giant: Hi again and thank you for your response. In regards to the policies, that should be something which users should familiarise themselves with when signing up as well as thoroughly read through the how to’s, which videos on YouTube will even show, as I had also done; and in regards to the CFD’s, I 100% agree with you because that is what should have happened before mass disruptions and reversions. Thank you for your civil and mature approach to this.TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 21:36 29 March 2020 (UTC)
@Green Giant: And yet this user continues to make undiscussed moves against all the advises. Tm (talk) 21:12, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And continues to "forget" to log in to Wikidata, or is coincidence that IP 85.255.233.90 moved the Wikidata page that you moved here in Commons? Tm (talk) 21:14, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Civility only lasts as long as it is reciprocated. I’m going to insist that you use the Commons:Categories for discussion process for all category moves and redirections etc. If there are any further unilateral category moves, I will block your account from further editing. -Green Giant (talk) 21:24, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tm: you still don’t seem to get it do you; prior to the mass mess you made, the category of the name I had moved it to was correct, factual and accurate yet you still continue to vandalise categories with incomplete and non factual names. TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 23:55 29 March 2020 (UTC)

@Green Giant: Then surely that should be subject to both individuals, especially one of which continues to vandalise category names from factual and accurate ones to non factual and poorly opinionated ones. TheCommonsCorrecteur (talk) 00:01 30 March 2020 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, Tm has been trying to reverse your actions. Since more than one user has disagreed with these renames, it is important to discuss proposed changes using the method I mentioned. If there is a repeat of the IP making changes on Wikidata, this will be considered an attempt to evade scrutiny. Please do not go down this route. Discuss, discuss and discuss some more on the appropriate pages. -Green Giant (talk) 23:21, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Green Giant: This user keeps moving categories without discussion and if you see the user problems page, he keeps hidding under an Ip in Wikidata and i suspect this account of being a sockpuppet\sockpuppeter of at least to other accounts. Tm (talk) 16:27, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tm

[edit]

I gather I’m not the only one to be subjected of Tm’s hostility and blatant masses of vandalism, if you’re able to check out the current discussion on the admins noticeboard regarding this rather hostile and troublesome user, to give your take on their spreading of false accusations and as to what agenda they have towards other users, I would be grateful! Rereader1996 (talk) 17:49, 03 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I´ve already warned the proper user, as you can see above. Tm (talk) 16:51, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comment We now recorre to vote canvassing users that have previously asked for my banishment? How nice. Why then you dont give the all picture? Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/Vandalism/Archive_13#Tm is clear when it says "My interim conclusion is that @Tm: was acting correctly in trying to minimise disruption to Commons. @TheCommonsCorrecteur: has not answered my question, nor those of other users. If there is further disruption of this nature, I shall not hesitate to act accordingly. -Green Giant (Discussão) 20:48, 27 March 2020 (UTC)". I´ll repeat again "Tm: was acting correctly in trying to minimise disruption to Commons". Enough said as there will not be an lynching move as you want. Tm (talk) 17:06, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
