Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:55, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

File:Prop44Billboard-DenverCO200.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Your photos
[edit]Just wanted to say thanks for uploading all your photos, especially the older ones of mining and ore processing. Not many people get to see that go on, and fewer still are able to photograph it. -Gump Stump (talk) 21:43, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

US Wind Generation Chart
[edit]Good work on this. I'm glad you took the time to make this graph, since for a long time I've thought this would be a useful addition. --Aflafla1 (talk) 03:34, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)
[edit]In other languages (translate this)

Thank you for uploading some images!
Did you know that Wikimedia Commons recommends the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format for certain types of images? Scalable Vector Graphics are designed to look appropriate at any scale, and SVG images are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export. If you encountered problems or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (To avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put raster images into an SVG container as embedded raster.) Thanks, and happy editing!

- Ditto. Thank you for creating images. You can look at my user page for some examples of svg images of each type. I use each of those as "templates" to create new ones. I find png take a great deal less time to create, but the svgs are more valuable. But please look for a category for each image (see below). Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about creating svg images. Delphi234 (talk) 23:59, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

copper production by country
[edit]Hello Plazak,
I love your graphics. I am trying to write an article about the copper production in the beginning of the XX century, i.e. the shift of the production from UK to US. Your graphic starts at 1950, and I don't find the data you used (there is only the global figures, not the country figures).
Are you able to give me a way to find copper production figures, by country, from about 1870 to 1914 ?
In advance, thanks for any answer. Borvan53 (talk) 20:26, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Question about annual mined gold
[edit]Plazak, I would like to use the data about annual mined gold to play with it in Excel. Can you tell us where and how you collected this, or maybe even put the data somewhere in e.g. a dropbox?
Thanks for your great work!

US Coal Mining Jobs
[edit]Hi Plazak, I noticed that your graph here only goes up to 2014. The source has now been updated and includes data up to 2016. Would you like to update your graph? I am happy to create a new graph if you are busy or otherwise don't want to. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 15:24, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message - to be honest it was more that I am too lazy to create a new graph if you have the file to hand and could easily update it. No worries if you don't! Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 16:37, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
USGS Iron-Steel 1900-2014 - Wars have been started over less.
[edit]You are the cause of the Trumpian steel tarrifs,
and resulting global trade war. ;-)
Your graph is fine up till 2014.
2015 -
You've extended the line from 2014's value,
to 2015 as value of ZERO.
Having zero data
DOES NOT MEAN production was zero.
Please fix your graph.
TERMINATE the line at the last valid data-point.
Thanks for your hard work.
Data source for Indian Coal production
