Flags
[edit]Hi, I noticed that you have uploaded flags to WikiCommons. Do you think there is something you can do about Image:Northern Ireland flag.gif? It is smaller than many other flags on WikiCommons + somebody thought it was a copyvio. It would be great if Commons had a nice NI flag with a known creator. Greetings!
[edit]Hello! I hope you're well. I noticed that you have integrated an SVG version of the [Image:Flag of Japan.svg Japanese flag here] and on Wikipedia. Nice! I have made, altered, or appropriated a wealth of similar SVG images (e.g., Canadian flags) and have the ability to create them anew. How can I assist? Are there any naming or other conventions to follow? Pointers?
Thanks again! (If possible, comment on my Wikipedia user page.) E Pluribus Anthony 15:15, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
- I think the best naming convention is to use "Flag of Foo.svg", where the Wikipedia article about the flag is at "Flag of Foo". For example, I put the flag of Washington, D.C. at Image:Flag of Washington, D.C..svg, not Image:Flag of the District of Columbia.svg or any other variation. Of course, there's no hard and fast rule, so it's all good as long as you upload your flags! (There's one technical issue: make sure your flags are at least "300 pixels" wide, since MediaWiki refuses to scale SVG up in most cases.) dbenbenn | talk 17:40, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
- Hello again! I hope you're well. I just wanted to let you know that I'll be uploading a revised SVG Flag for New Brunswick (to replace the one you placed in the commons recently). While the current one is very good, the one I have was extracted from an official New Brunswick website/PDF (I've more such images, too) and, methinks, is more accurate; there are slight differences between the two. Thoughts? Thanks, and more to follow! E Pluribus Anthony 21:41, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- Please do! The quality of the flags at openclipart.org isn't that good. They're better than nothing, but they can usually be improved on. dbenbenn | talk 23:31, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply; will do. I hear you: by the way, my one contribution at openclipart.org is the flag of Canada, replacing other former 'horrible' renditions, which is (should be) the basis for the one(s) in Wikip/media. Enjoy! E Pluribus Anthony 00:19, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
- The Canadian flag I found at openclipart (Image:Flag of Canada.svg) is by someone else. Do you have a better version? dbenbenn | talk 08:00, 8 October 2005 (UTC)

Flag of Sweden
[edit]Hi E Pluribus. You wrote to me on my talk page, that you supported using the commons flag. I have waited doing this for now, awaiting a svg flag before going ahead. Do you know if there is such a flag yet? I have not found one. // Fred Chess 18:33, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
- Hi there! I hope you're well. First of all, forgive my silence; I've been swamped. I think another user has taken the liberty of creating an SVG of the Swedish (and other) flags; if not, it is fairly simple enough that I can create it. Thoughts? E Pluribus Anthony 17:19, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Proportions of Canadian flag
[edit]Hi. I just found this link. I'm not sure whether you're aware of it, but it would be relevant for the design of Image:Flag_of_Canada.svg. --P3d0
Hi E Pluribus Anthony, I have deleted this map today because there is another identical map Image:SchengenTreaty Map.png. The last update to this map I have integrated in this through a new upload to Image:SchengenTreaty Map.png. It is not neccessary to hold two identical maps. --Raymond de 15:25, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again, someone has changed the map in all WPs, so forget my message :) --Raymond de 16:03, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Delete template
[edit]Hi! If you have found a redundant image, please use the template {{redundant|New image name.jpg}} rather than the delete or deletebecause. Redundant images are often already used on wikipedia and a speedy deletion will eliminate those links unfairly. Thanks! Bas parler voir 23:57, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
- HI! Again! You're using the wrong template and images that are being used in projects are being put on the speedy delete page. Please do not use the template {{Db}} from now on. Use {{Redundant}} Cary "Bastique" Bass parler voir 15:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Tag at Image:Flag of New Brunswick.svg
[edit]Hi Pluribus. Could you replace the {{PD-flag}} tag at Image:Flag of New Brunswick.svg with {{PD-self}}, just so it's totally clear? Thanks, User:dbenbenn 03:16, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Since you were involved in the debate over at en:, you may wish to take a look at the deletion debate here at Commons. Cary "Bastique" Bass parler voir 20:02, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Map Request
[edit]Hi E Pluribus Anthony,
I don't know if this is an appropriate way to contact you, if not then I sincerely apologise.
In any case, I wanted to ask if you are able (and willing) to provide a larger size version of your world map (this one: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Newworldmap.png)
I am creating a home made boardgame based on a well known train game. I would like to find something like your image, but with a height of 180cm (or 6ft, ~5100 pixels). That would put the width somewhere around 355cm (or just under 12ft, ~10,050 pixels). The height is the determining factor so it fits on the surface I have available.
I don't know if you have an original in this size, or whether you only ever worked on the original at a smaller size and therefore don't have anything bigger. But I thought I would ask, as I am not sure what the easiest option is for me to find such a suitably sized image. When I increase the image size myself, the quality deteriorates considerably, which I am trying to avoid.
Any help would be appreciated, you can e-mail me at nico 44 AT ntlworld . com, I also saved my 'talk page' to my favourites (my logged ip address) if you prefer to only reply that way. Thanks in advance,
- Steve

Copyright status: Image:Flag of Prince Edward Island.svg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Flag of Prince Edward Island.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called E Pluribus Anthony. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name E Pluribus Anthony~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
