“Nature” of the specimen

[edit]

@Archaeodontosaurus: For quite some time I’m wondering what kind of specimen/exhibit the two C. aguti do represent. As far as I know, Richards Spur/Dolese Bros. LS quarry/Fort Sill is a fissure fill where lots of tetrapod fossils are preserved, however all material is disarticulated. Also, the specimens overleaf look as if they are resin casts (e.g. the colour is unnaturally uniform for true fossilized bone). So I suspect that the two skeletons are no true fossils but casted composite skeleton reconstructions, and that the yellowish „rock“ on which they are lying is just painted plaster or the like. Can you confirm (or reject) that? --Gretarsson (talk) 15:36, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Gretarsson: These two specimens are not in my collection but I can give you on your Email, the Email of the collector if you wish. Send me an email if you wish. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 15:57, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
