Title
Zoomorphic buckle loop, front
Description
English: Cast copper alloy D-shaped buckle frame, with zoomorphic knop projecting from front edge of the buckle frame. Narrowed round-sectioned strap bar, with projecting knops at either end, flat-sectioned d-shaped frame. The upper surface of the frame is decorated with two zones of eight transverse ridges either side of a pin rest. These zones of ridges stop just short of the strap bar; at this point a small knop projects outwards from the outer edges of the frame. The zone between either end of the transverse ridges and the strap bar has a longitudinal depression. The reverse of the buckle frame is decorated with a series of small dots. This buckle, which has a rust-red patina, is of Scandinavian or Anglo-Scandinavian design.
