Description
English: View from the lobby of 60 Hudson Street, originally the Western Union Building (1930). Blending German Expressionism with Art Deco details, the building was designed by architect Ralph Walker, who also designed the Barclay-Vesey Building. Western Union used the building for telephone, telegraph, and ticker machinery; classrooms were provided for Western Union messenger boys to continue high school. Designated as a NYC landmark in 1991, 60 Hudson Street now serves as a colocation centre for over 100 telecommunications companies.See Blue Guide to New York by Carol von Pressentin Wright, W.W.
