Summary
[edit]DescriptionUvala-Mirovo NVelebit Dinarides Croatia.jpg |
English: Dundović Mirovo, length ca. 2km, altitude ca. 1,35km, croatian Dinaric Alps of the Northern Velebit National Park. This beautifull, frequently visited area is one of several neighbouring closed karst depressions (uvala, if >1km).
Geology: Due to sizes, uvalas probably developed since Pliocene, maybe even earlier by faulting and karstification. Due to its altitude the depression was overprinted in glacial and periglacial times (Pleistocene) as published research results of this and two neighbouring depressions 2011 confirmed. Massive tectonics and karstification karstified the Velebit mountain chain way down, deeply under the adriatic see level (!). |
