INCREASING RELIABILITY “We are very thankful to USAID for providing us with outage reduction devices (switches, fuses, and fault Indicators). Installation of these devices will improve both customer services and the company’s revenue, while enhancing identification of faulty areas and reducing the outage time for unaffected consumers.” Multan Electric Power Company Chief Engineer (Planning & Engineering) Muhammad Akram Ch. (Pictured Above) Increasing Multan Electric Power Company’s Power Maintenance Capabilities: USAID Power Distribution Program is assisting Pakistan’s distribution companies to improve the supply and distribution of power through the provision of outage reduction devices. These devices will help the Multan Electric Power Company to better monitor the loads on its feeders and allow the company to shift the heavily loaded feeders to lighter loaded feeders. Due to the lack of sectionalizing devices, consumers not in the vicinity of the area of the fault were also affected during outages. These devices will now allow the company to reduce the time it takes to find power faults in addition to performing maintenance activities without shutting down power. |
