Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Rabbit Walk - geograph.org.uk - 961483.jpg |
English: The Rabbit Walk Local name given to the bridleway that connects the South Downs Way to the Old Coach Road. The route descends via an old Roman terraceway which once carried a minor Roman road from the farms around modern day to Ripe and Chalvington towards both the small wharf at the mouth of the Ouse as well as another community on Seaford Head. The village of Firle is to the right, Mount Caburn is in the middle whilst in the distance on the right is the town of Lewes. The early morning mist is clearing in that area but can be seen covering the Low Weald beyond Caburn and the Downs where it lingered for another hour or so. |
