Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Poltalloch Stones - geograph.org.uk - 1104737.jpg |
English: The Poltalloch Stones These medieval slab grave-stones of the Malcolm of Poltalloch family have been placed in the graveyard on display. The carvings are crisp and are fine examples of celtic tracery work. The central heraldic slab has the Malcolm of Poltalloch coat of arms and the two stones flanking it show warriors in armour. The Malcolm (MacCallum) family claim descent as disciples of St. Columba and have been major landowners in the area since at least the 15th century with their seat at Duntrune Castle. |
