Summary
[edit]DescriptionThe Martyrs Inn, Tolpuddle - geograph.org.uk - 1176234.jpg |
English: The Martyrs Inn, Tolpuddle This was the site of the Crown Inn which was destroyed by fire. In 1848 John Bullen was a beer retailer and shopkeeper/grocer here. In 1896 the local landowner sold the lease of the Crown Inn to Hall and Woodhouse (Brewers). In the 18th century there were three inns in the village and it seems likely that one of those was also on this site. The Inn has now been renamed the Martyrs Inn, the opening of which was performed by Vic Feather of the TUC. |
