Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Corpse Way 'underpass'. The majority of walkers on the Corpse Way over Kisdon fail to notice this 'underpass' which appears to have been constructed by miners investigating the nearby Acre Walls lead vein. A track [possibly with rails] must have been made from the level entrance, some 80m away, to a dump the other side of the Corpse Way. Rather than cut the ancient route, it appears that a neat drystone arched bridge was made, whilst it was also necessary to cut down through solid limestone. This work may date from around 1866 when the vein was investigated, but soon abandoned.
