Français : Selon le professeur Roland Sanfaçon (2018), ce panneau de la fin du 12e siècle provient de la cathédrale de Troyes (France) et fait partie d’une série d'au moins dix-huit dont plusieurs représentant une tentation du Christ, un thème peu fréquent dans l’iconographie du vitrail. Les autres se trouvent dans les collections du Victoria & Albert Museum à Londres, du Musée national du moyen-âge (Musée de Cluny) à Paris, du Metropolitan Museum à New-York et de plusieurs autres musées et collections privées dans le monde. |

Français : Sur le pourtour, une armature moderne recouvre le plomb ancien afin de le consolider. Les têtes du Christ et du diable sont modernes, ce qui n’a rien d’extraordinaire étant donné la fragilité du matériau. D’après le donateur, elles ont été faites par le maître verrier parisien Pierre Gaudin, qui a restauré ses vitraux avant leur départ pour le Canada. |

Français : Don datant du 23 juillet 2018. Le donateur Jean-Guy Violette a acheté ce vitrail à Paris, lors d’une vente aux enchères de la collection du peintre verrier Michel Acézat à l’hôtel Drouot en novembre 1969. |
