Description
English: Statue of a woman. Pentelic marble. Found in Piraeus. The woman wears a transparent chiton, girt high, a himation, and elaborate sandals. The belt is tied in a ‘Hercules knot’. She wears an armlet on the left arm and a bracelet on the wrist. According to the inscription on the base of the statue it was dedicated by Megiste daughter of Architimos, to the Mother of the Gods and Aphrodite. 1st century B.C. Accession number: 710. National Archaeological Museum of Athens. Athens, Greece. Text: Museum inscription.
