Description
English: Detail from from a family pedigree illuminated on vellum, commissioned by his descendant Sir John Scott (1570-1616) of Nettlestead Place, MP. Sold at Bonhams Auctioneers, London, 26 Jun 2007, Lot 46 "HERALDRY - SCOTT FAMILY OF KENT", for £3,840. Arms of St Leger impaling Scott of Scot's Hall, Kent, representing the marriage of "Anthony St Leger" to Mary Scott, a daughter of Sir Thomas Scott (died 1594) of Scot's Hall, Kent, and a sister of Sir John Scott (1570 – 1616), of Scot's Hall and of Nettlestead Place in Kent, as is shown by the pedigree. These are the arms borne by Anthony St Leger (c.1496-1559), of Ulcombe and Leeds Castle in Kent, Lord Deputy of Ireland, who had a son named Anthony St Leger Anthony St Leger (the younger) (c.1535-1613), Master of the Rolls. Possibly a son of his may have been the husband of Mary Scott. (see: Richardson, Magna Carta Ancestry: A Study in Colonial and Medieval Families, 2nd Edition, p.4[1])
