Summary
[edit]DescriptionSewing needle eye with thread.jpg |
English: This is the eye of a sewing needle, sharp size number 5, with a strand of black all purpose cotton/polyester blend thread. The entire needle is about 3.8cm in length, of which only about 1.5cm is shown in this photograph. The diameter of the needle at the eye, the widest part, is just under 1mm, with the shaft being slightly smaller.
Although made of steel, this particular needle has a decorative gold colored plating nearest the eye end. Tiny scratches in the surface are readily visible. Also visible is the depression or recess channel along the eye to provide protection to the thread when it is being pulled through fabric. Taken with a Sony A100 camera using a Sony 2.8/100 Macro lens. Image has not been edited. |
