Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Prisoners of war being searched, Western Front, during World War I. This photograph shows two British soldiers searching the personal possessions of a group of five German prisoners. One of the Germans is searching his pockets, while the others have put their belongings on the ground in front of them.

As prisoners of war under the Hague Convention of 1907 these men would be allowed to keep their personal possessions once they had been checked for anything that might be considered dangerous to the Allies.
