Summary
[edit]DescriptionSaltmarsh sparrow nest (50141753582).jpg |
A woven salt hay (Spartina patens) nest full of young saltmarsh sparrow chicks from the E.B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. Thick walls of grasses surrounding the nest cup provide structure for older chicks to climb up if the nest floods with the tide. Nest monitoring should always be conducted by trained researchers with proper permitting. Credit Becky Longenecker/USFWS |
