Summary

[edit]
Description
English: PictionID:46168300 - Catalog:16_007322 - Heinkel S 5A (Swedish-built Heinkel HE 5 with Bristol Jupiter engine) in Sweden Nowarra Collection. Frame number 475 carries the post-1931 identification number 2475; this is the eleventh of 12 Heinkel S 5A built by CFV (Centrala Flygverkstaden Västerås) in 1929-1932. This plane was accepted by the Swedish Air Force on 27 November 1932. The identification system was changed in 1935 when this plane became 2-75; the number changed four more times after 1940. The plane was taken out of service and scrapped on 11 December 1942 due to airframe wear. This three-seater derivative can accommodate the pilot, observer, and gunner, and features a radio and wind-powered generator. It has a Bristol Jupiter VI-F engine with 450-500hp. All remaining S 5A were scrapped shortly after Germany's capitulation.
