Summary

[edit]
Description

U.S. Navy plane handlers maneuver a Curtiss SB2C-5 Helldiver into the hangar deck of an Essex-class aircraft carrier, in 1945.

Original description: "Plane handlers maneuver SB2C-5 of Bombing Squadron 95 (VB-95) into the hangar deck of USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) during operations in the Pacific." Note: VB-95 operated in 1945 from Naval Air Station Wildwood, New Jersey (USA), and NAS Oceana, Virginia (USA). USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) was being repaired at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Washington (USA), from April to August 1945, before being used as a troop transport. As VB-95's history is somewhat vague, the photo could have been taken after the conclusion of Bunker Hill´s repairs during trials in August 1945.
