| Description |
Nederlands: De nieuwe rotonde op de kruising van de Wulverhorstbaan en Middelland baan is sinds kort voorzien van een ontwerp waarin het Wonder van Woerden een rol speelt. Op de rotonde staan platte huizen van cortenstaal. Daartussen loopt symbolisch de rivier de Rijn. Tussen de huizen en boven het water zwemmen grote vissen. Dit zijn de snoeken die in 1575 opeens beschikbaar kwamen voor de hongerende bevolking. De stad werd tijdens de tachtigjarige oorlog belegerd door de Spanjaarden. Het Wonder van Woerden heeft hiermee een plek gekregen op hetzelfde moment dat in de hal van het Stadsmuseum het schilderij van de belegering vertoond wordt. Binnenkort brengt de Aar Hoveniers ook de beplanting aan op de rotonde. |
