Post Medieval Asymmetrical Buckle |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle dating to the Post Medieval period (1575 - 1700 AD). The buckle is asymmetrical with one D shaped loop and one sub rectangular loop either side of a centrally located strap bar. There is a three lobed pointed knop with a V shaped groove between each lobe on the outer edge of the D shaped loop. The strap bar has a central rectangular depression for the pin, which does not survive. The buckle measures 19mm in length.
For a similar, although not exact, example see Whitehead (2003: 92) no. 584. |
