Title |
Post Medieval Asymmetrical Buckle |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Post Medieval buckle, c. 1620-1680 AD. The remains of the buckle consists of a double loop trapezoidal buckle frame. The frame is decorated with a bifid narrow end with ovoid knops on the corners of the frame; the other is a quatrefoil wide end with large lobed knops on the end of winged extensions. A narrowed strap bar and the interior edge of the short end of the frame exhibits a large degree of iron corrosion, suggesting that the missing pin was composed of iron. The frame measures 28.85 mm long, 39.38 mm wide at the wider end of the frame, 22.04 mm wide at the shorter end, 2.92 mm thick, and weighs 7.62 grams. |
