Description
English: Portrush train, Coleraine
Coleraine station has two through platforms but trains running in three directions. The practice is for the Portrush train to arrive, drop its passengers and disappear into a siding. On the arrival of the down Londonderry it returns to the platform behind the former. With the introduction of the C4K units J3473 : C4K train, Belfast (1) Portrush trains are now worked by C3K stock. Sights such as this C8539 : Dhu Varren station (2) are things of the past. The bay platform (left) was once used by trains on the “Derry Central” line C8925 : Old railway bridge, Macfin near Coleraine.
