Picture of a musician playing a Chalumeau

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A picture of a musician playing a wooden Chalumeau. The instrument is a Chalumeau in C, and it is made of Sycamore maple, and it is also keyless [ it does not possess the keys later developed to extend the range of notes]. It has one more modern feature; that of a clarinet head, into which a single Reed is attached and fixed [ by the ligature]. The instrument fingering is similar to a recorder, and to play it - the lower lips fold over the teeth, where it is gripped, with the top teeth against the clarinet head, on top [ The lips forming a seal] and in this way it is played. The sound is very distinctive, and voice like.
